A ginnel garden inspired by Coronation Street shows how back alleys can go green.
Alley gardens are becoming increasingly popular – transforming alleyways that typically run behind terraced housing into green, attractive communal spaces.
Working with the Coronation Street The Tour team, Manchester City Council’s Customer and Community Engagement team will build a ‘model’ alleyway greening scheme installation; to create a back alley effect and demonstrate the many benefits of alleyway greening in creating shared community spaces.
The green alley will show what the back of the Rovers Return could look like if it decided to create make its ginnel green!
The Green Alley garden has been created by Coronation Street – The Tour and Manchester City Council. After the festival, the garden will be used to create a new alleyway garden in the city.
