About

Dig the City Manchester 2012 is the UK's first urban garden festival, and is a partnership of key public and private sector organisations within the city including Manchester Cathedral, Manchester Arndale, Manchester City Council and Nikal Property Development and Investment.

For a full list of our partners please see SUPPORT US.

We want to 'make our city grow' - to bring people to Manchester to both celebrate horticulture and gardening, and to champion the hard work that takes place already.

Our city is changing, and Dig the City is a week long festival where the emerging medieval quarter of Manchester will be transformed into a hive of floral, horticultural and gardening activity. From the huge flower festival staged at Manchester Cathedral, through to the flower markets and displays around Exchange Square and Cathedral Gardens, Dig the City is a fantastic day out for everyone.

The majority of the activities and displays are free, so bring the whole family along. This is going to be an annual event, so make sure that you are part of it in 2012.

The pinnacle of Dig the City, Manchester Cathedral is proud to stage the North West's largest flower festival, celebrating themes of music and the Diamond Jubilee.

Led by a Chelsea award winning team, and the organisers of major flower festivals including Hampton Court Palace, Dig the City at Manchester Cathedral will be a stunning spectacle of over 30,000 flowers.
